5 firefighters injured battling vacant house fire

Two Miss. firefighters fell through a hole in the floor and three others suffered pain and discomfort

JACKSON, Miss. — Five firefighters were injured and taken to a hospital Tuesday night after battling a vacant, single-story house fire.

WAPT reported that two firefighters fell through a hole in the floor into the basement and three others complained about pain and discomfort later.

Four of the firefighters have since been released from the hospital. One remains hospitalized, but is expected to make a full recovery.

So far this year, 20 Mississippi firefighters have been injured battling blazes.
