BYHALIA, Miss. — Two grieving mothers are questioning the response times of volunteer fire departments near their home.

A house fire Saturday in Byhalia, Mississippi took the lives of an 8-month-old, a 1-year-old, and a 2-year-old. Monday, yellow crime scene tape covered the charred, black house where the Tunstall family lost three of its youngest and most precious members.

“My mom opened the door, his room was full of flames and fire.” Latonya Tunstall said. “The fire was there while my mamma went back trying to get the other kids everything just started exploding.” Latonya lost her only son, Abel. Her sister lost her 2-year-old son and 8-month old daughter.
