Firefighter hospitalized after battling house blaze

About 50 firefighters from several departments responded to the attic fire

ST. THOMAS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A firefighter was sent to the hospital for heat-related injuries after fighting an attic fire Tuesday.

The attic fire took 20 minutes to get under control and nearly four hours to put out, according to St. Thomas Fire Chief Thomas Bigler.

Due to high temperatures, firefighters had to take rotating shifts to handle the fire. Around 50 firefighters were on scene, including those from neighboring units.

The Public Opinion reported that no one was home during the time of the fire, and were able to return once the fire was put out.
