TAMPA, Fla. — Firefighters are battling a smoky four-alarm blaze that earlier forced the evacuation of nearby high school.
MyFox Tampa Bay reported that the fire is at the RockTenn recycling facility. District officials said the school was evacuated after smoke from the fire tripped the school’s alarms.
Fire trucks have pulled onto the school’s track to get a better angle on the nearby fire, according to the report.
The blaze is contained inside the recycling plant’s yard, but the mounds of paper and other recyclables are still burning.
Roads in the area have been closed.
