PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Pittsburgh firefighters rescued three people — one of them a child — from a burning home late Monday in Beechview.

Paramedics told dispatchers around midnight that the three were “conscious and alert” as they were being treated after being pulled from the burning home near the corner of Sebring and Rockland avenues.

UPMC Mercy hospital was told to be ready to treat a man and a woman, along with a 7-year-old girl, who were suffering from “minor smoke inhalation” and “burns,” paramedics told dispatchers. Paramedics also told dispatchers that all appeared to be “in good condition.”

Firefighters were called about 11:45 p.m. and when they arrived, they told dispatchers they saw fire extending to the roof of the house.

Firefighters said they were raising a ladder to the roof for one patient and another to an attic window where a child was trapped. Moments later, firefighters told dispatchers that they were carrying the child out through the front door of the home.

The fire was declared under control at 12:15 p.m.

No other information was immediately available.
