BARRE, Vt. — All Fired Up went up in smoke today, leaving Barre with one less eatery while gutting one of the city’s most historic structures.
More than 50 firefighters from eight area departments responded to a stubborn smoky blaze that apparently started in the kitchen area of the popular restaurant and tavern shortly after 7:30 a.m.
More than four hours later firefighters were still on the scene trying to douse a fire that quickly spread through a building that has stood on Depot Square since the late-1800s.
