POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A blaze broke out in a Pompano Beach warehouse Friday morning, and a firefighter was hurt after falling off a ladder, a city spokeswoman said.
Crews were dispatched to the fire at about 10:20 a.m. in the 300 block of Southwest 14th Avenue, according to Pompano Beach Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Sandra King.
About an hour later, crews called for more firefighters to fight the blaze that began in the warehouse roof.
One of the firefighters on scene was hurt when a ladder he was on fell over with him on it, King said. The ladder had been propped up against the building. It is unclear from what height the firefighter fell.
He did not have injuries that were life-threatening, but was taken to Broward Health North as a precaution, King said.
It was not immediately known whether the warehouse was occupied at the time of the fire. However, there were no other injuries reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
