MADISON COUNTY, Ind. — Madison County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an arson suspect Tuesday in the Summerlake subdivision fire that damaged three homes a day earlier.
Maj. Brian Bell of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department said 28-year-old Sharon D. Collins of Indianapolis was arrested Tuesday on charges of arson, a Class B felony, and invasion of privacy, a Class A misdemeanor.
Collins once lived in the home where the fire originated at 9622 W. Quarter Moon Blvd. but did not live at the residence at the time of the fire. The home is in the Summerlake subdivision near Ind. 13 and Interstate 69.
The fire, which started at 1:28 p.m. Monday, spread to two adjacent homes in the neighborhood, but no one was injured. No one was home at any of the three homes at the time of the blaze.
Collins was charged with invasion of privacy, Bell said, because she violated a protective order for her husband, Joshua J. Collins, 28.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s investigation into the fire is ongoing, Bell said, as lab tests from the scene are processed. Though the investigation is not complete, Bell said the department had sufficient evidence to arrest Collins, including witness statements from the scene of the fire.
