BALTIMORE, Md. — A 72-year-old man died from injuries he suffered in a fire last week at a Brooklyn Park mobile home, an Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman said Tuesday.

Brice V. Clements, of the 600 block of Sunset Strip, died Friday at the John Hopkins Bayview Burn Center in Baltimore.

Clements is the fourth fire-related fatality in the county this year, fire department spokesman Division Chief Keith Swindle said.

Firefighters responding to Clements’ double-wide mobile home at 9:30 a.m. June 9 and found a small fire in one of the bedrooms, Swindle said.

Firefighters located Clements, who had serious and life-threatening injuries, with second- and third-degree burns to 35 percent of his body, including his arms and upper torso, Swindle said.

Clements was the lone resident of the home.

The home was equipped with working smoke detectors. But due to small the size of the fire, the smoke detectors never activated, Swindle said.

The fire caused an estimated $1,000 worth of damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Swindle said.
