CLARE COUNTY, Mich. — A firefighter who suffered a fractured pelvis after falling through an attic was released from the hospital over the weekend.

Firefighter Sam Eberhart fell about 14 feet with 80 pounds of gear on while battling a fire last week, reported FOX32. The 10-year veteran was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

“Fourteen feet is a long ways and he had a lot of extra weight on his back, so this is just awesome,” Clare Fire Chief James Chapman said.

Eberhart was escorted home by fellow firefighters after being released from the hospital.

“He’s a fireman’s fireman. He’s always front and center when there’s a new class,” Chief Chapman said. “He’s front and center when there’s a fire or car accident and he’s one of those guys who doesn’t stop until the job is over.”
