MACON COUNTY, N.C. — A volunteer firefighter died and his child was rushed to the hospital after a house fire Friday morning.
WLOS reported that 36-year-old Brad McCoy, a firefighter with the Nantahala Fire and Rescue, died in the fire.
Crews got the call early Friday morning, just after 1 a.m. Fire officials said he was home with his wife and two children. They said his 9-year-old daughter was burned and airlifted to a burn center, according to the report.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but investigators are looking at a wood stove that was inside the home.
