RALEIGH, N.C. — Firefighters battled a large apartment fire in Northwest Raleigh on Saturday evening.
The fire, at 5024 Manor Valley Court off Grove Barton Road, heavily damaged a three-story building in the Camden Crest Apartments complex.
The building was “fully involved,” with flames coming through the roof, the first firefighters on the scene reported. Heavy smoke was visible over nearby U.S. 70.
Alvaro Medina was watching TV in a building across the parking lot when he saw smoke flying past an open window. Medina went outside and saw that the roof above a corner unit was engulfed in flames.
“How sad to lose everything in an instant,” he said.
The fire was reported at about 6:15 p.m. It was declared under control at about 8 p.m., but firefighters were still pouring water on the building more than an hour later.
Authorities have released no information about injuries or a possible cause.
