Ore. firefighter injured by falling sheetrock

The firefighter was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment; he is reportedly in stable condition

OREGON CITY, Ore. — A Clackamas Fire District No. 1 firefighter is reported to be recovering at a Portland hospital after a large piece of sheetrock fell about 15 feet from a ceiling and landed on his head during firefighting operations in Oregon City.

Fire District spokesman Brandon Paxton says the firefighter was injured Tuesday afternoon. He was not immediately identified.

Paxton says the homeowner was able to escape safely with his three dogs. Fire crews controlled the fire.

The cause of the fire and estimated dollar loss are under investigation.
