PHOENIX — A fire broke out early this morning near 11th and Polk Streets. And as the fire crew struggled to escape the home that was engulfed in flames, a Phoenix firefighter was injured. Dramatic video shows a group of firefighters racing to get down this roof as flames overcome the downtown Phoenix home.
“While the ladder company was exiting the roof, a large volume of fire coming out of the hole they had cut as well as side of the roof and one of our firefighters sustained an injury,” said Mike Billingsley, a Captain with the Phoenix Fire Department.
The firefighters were trying to ventilate the building for crews working below.
