WORCESTER, Mass. — Another Massachusetts city is dealing with a string of suspected arson fires.
Worcester fire officials say they are investigating whether a small fire Sunday night at a school is connected to two other fires in the area this month.
The fire at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday at the Tatnuck Magnet School was limited to a wooden window frame. Fire Capt. William Metterville tells The Telegram & Gazette that the investigation unit determined that the blaze was arson. One firefighter broke his ankle when he slipped on ice.
Firefighters also recently responded to a pair of fires at a vacant building about a half-mile away from the school.
State and federal authorities are investigating a string of nine fires in Northampton on Sunday, one of which claimed two lives.
