PITTSBURGH, Pa. — City firefighters found a very challenging situation when they arrived at a burning house late Thursday night in Beltzhoover.

Assistant Chief Thomas Cook said the three-alarm fire was fully involved on the second and third floors of the vacant home at the corner of Climax Street and Estella Avenue.

“Due to some significant amount of hoarding on the part of the owner, we had a heavy fire condition on arrival, which precluded entry into the building. The crews focused on protecting the exposure to the house right next door,” said Cook.
