CHICAGO — A firefighter was injured in a blaze Tuesday evening at an old math building at the University of Chicago, officials said.
The fire lasted about an hour at the Statistics and Mathematics building, 5727 S. University Ave. The building was under renovation.
A firefighter was released Wednesday from the University of Chicago Hospital after being treated for minor injuries.
Some private residences and office buildings near the fire were evacuated as a precaution because of high winds, but the fire did not affect other structures, officials said.
The building’s top floor and roof suffered most of the damage, officials said.
