Utah firefighter battling house fire hurt after floor collapses

The firefighter dislocated his shoulder in the fall; two others fell through but were uninjured

MURRAY, Utah — A firefighter was injured when a floor collapsed while battling a house fire Sunday morning.

FOX13Now reported that the firefighters, with the Murray (Utah) Fire Department, had just gone inside the house when they walked down a hallway and found themselves in the basement.

Three firefighters crashed through the floor when it collapsed underneath them.

“Some extraordinary effort went in to getting these guys out of the basement,” Deputy Fire Marshal Pat Killion said.

One firefighter dislocated his shoulder in the fall. He was taken to a hospital and was later released. The other two firefighters were not hurt.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, but a family cat died in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
