YORK COUNTY, Va. — Officials are looking into the cause of a fire at a York County home Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was reported just after 1 p.m. in the 400 block of Goosley Road, where firefighters found heavy smoke in the attic of a one-story home, said York County Department of Fire and Life Safety Assistant Chief Paul Long.

Crews put out the fire in 25 minutes, and the home is considered uninhabitable, Long said. The Red Cross has been called to assist the residents.

At the scene, a dog bit a firefighter, though the bite did not get through the firefighter’s clothing, Long said. Animal control officials were initially called to the scene, but the owner managed to secure the dog, Long said.
