SPRING VALLEY, Calif. — A firefighter with Cal Fire was injured Tuesday battling a fire at a recycling yard.
The firefighter, who has not been identified, suffered multiple injuries after a stack of cardboard fell onto him. He was taken to the hospital with fractures to his shoulder, hip and leg , ABC 10 reported.
The fire, which eventually spread over half an acre of paper and cardboard bundles, took two hours to get under control. Crews remained overnight for overhaul and mop-up.
No other injuries were reported, but a duplex was damaged and four homes were evacuated.
