YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A raging fire at Asphalt Solutions spread so quickly, the roof collapsed and injured Youngstown Fire Captain Gene Cook.

Chief John O’Neill explains, “Some of that roof had come down pretty quick on us and he got knocked out so we sent him up to the hospital ... get checked out.” It all started around 1:45 Thursday afternoon, when an employee, who lives nearby, first spotted flames and smoke and alerted one of the owners, Bob Roth, who tried to salvage what he could.

“I said, let’s try getting some equipment out of here. I got one truck out, then it was so bad we had to get the hell out of there.”
