MARION, Ohio — A firefighter was hospitalized Wednesday night following a wall collapse while battling a house fire.
10TV.com reported that a neighbor spotted some people leaving a vacant brick building and called the police to report a burglary. When police arrive, the building was on fire.
While firefighters were battling the flames, the video shows a wall of bricks falling onto a firefighter. The firefighter suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to a hospital, according to the report.
“It was terrible,” Jerry Teets, who witnessed the collapse, said. “He was pinned down underneath a bunch of blocks and everything else. People were trying to help him out and everything else and trying to get him out of there.”
Firefighters don’t have a cause for the fire yet, but do consider it suspicious.
Both the vacant building and a neighboring home were a total loss.
