BALTIMORE — Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon will announce tomorrow the first female battalion chief in the history of the fire department.
Chief Kevin Cartwright said Laura Shiloh, a 20-year veteran of the department, will oversee the operation of emergency medical services and serve on the accident review board.
Shiloh started as a paramedic in 1987 and served there until being promoted to EMS lieutenant in 1999.
She was promoted to battalion chief in September, although the mayor and Fire Chief William Goodwin will make a formal announcement tomorrow at a midmorning news conference at City Hall.
