CAMILLUS, N.Y. — Two Camillus firefighters, including a former chief, have been charged with stealing prescription medication from a fellow firefighter.

Douglas J. Groesbeck, 39, and Allen Harmon, 24, were arrested last week on petit larceny and official misconduct charges, both misdemeanors. From June 2014 until November 2014, the two allegedly stole prescription medication from another firefighter at the fire department, 5801 Newport Road. Camillus Police Chief Thomas Winn did not name the medication, but said it’s classified as a controlled substance.

Groesbeck served as fire chief and Harmon as captain for the Camillus Volunteer Fire Department at the time of the allegations. Groesbeck was an assistant fire chief and Harmon was a firefighter at the time of their arrests, Winn said.
