GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Green Oak Township fire chief working a crash scene was himself transported to an Ann Arbor hospital Friday afternoon after being struck by a car.
Undersheriff Michael Murphy said Fire Chief Kevin Gentry was transported by ambulance to the University of Michigan Medical Center where he was admitted and was last listed in stable condition late Friday evening. The fire chief was expected to be released this weekend.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Gentry, 46, was on the scene of a three-car minor personal injury crash around 3:15 p.m. on northbound U.S. 23 at the M-36 overpass when he was struck by a 2014 Ford Fiesta being driven by 66-year-old Henry Kraatz, of Howell.
