HUDSON, Fla. — A Florida fire station is temporarily closed after a bat colony invaded the building.
ABC Action News reported that the Pasco County Fire Rescue fire chief said bats have been around the property for years, but now they’ve gotten aggressive and pose a risk to firefighters.
The fire department has spotted bats in living quarters such as bunk rooms, the weight room and bathrooms. According to the fire chief, it’s illegal to displace bats during mating season.
A wildlife expert is looking into how the bats are getting into the station.
The station will be closed for one week.
