HOUSTON — More than 160 firefighters from departments throughout Texas came to League City Tuesday to say goodbye to one of their own.
Donald Mize, 62, was training to be a volunteer League City Firefighter when he collapsed during an exercise at the department’s training facility. The retired teacher wasn’t with the department long but to fellow fighters that doesn’t matter.
“What you are seeing right here is the brotherhood of the fire service,” said Ray Vigonesse with the League City Fire Department. “The second you walk through the front door you are considered a brother.”
