WASHINGTON — Two D.C. firefighters were pulled from the field and placed in desk jobs Monday while police investigate a complaint that they inappropriately touched a female colleague as she slept in a District firehouse, according to law enforcement authorities.
In addition, officials said two lieutenants and a captain could be disciplined for failing to take the female firefighter’s report seriously. The head of the firefighters union and a fire department official said it was only when the woman spoke to a battalion chief that her report was passed on to police.
The incident, which the victim says occurred early Friday, is the latest in a string of problems besieging the fire department, including delays in response times and the provision of faulty fleet data to the D.C. Council. Still pending is a separate investigation into two fire academy trainers accused in February of makinginappropriate sexual remarks to female cadets.
