WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A former West Palm Beach firefighter has been arrested and charged with bribery, fraud and grand theft.
West Palm Beach police say that Derrick Daniels held the rank of battalion chief and was assigned as the fire marshal for the city of West Palm Beach.
Daniels, according to his arrest report, was responsible for conducting fire-related code enforcement, inspections, plan reviews, fire investigations, permits and licenses. Investigators say that Daniels conducted fire inspections at various businesses in West Palm Beach and had asked for checks made payable to him.
