ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A volunteer firefighter has been charged with aggravated statutory rape after deputies said he had sex with a 14-year-old girl.
NewsChannel5 reported that most of the sexual contact between 36-year-old Joseph McQuiston and the juvenile female victim happened at the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a volunteer firefighter. According to Tennessean, he was not active with the department when he met his underage female victim at the fire station.
Authorities said McQuiston confessed and admitted to the sexual contact during questioning, according to the report.
He was an active firefighter with his department for about six years leading up to 2005, according to the report. There were no write-ups or issues with McQuiston during his service period, according to the Tennessean. Fire officials say they didn’t know why McQuiston left the service.
McQuiston was released on $5,000 bond, according to the report.
