FRANCESTOWN, N.H. — The death of a young firefighter was announced Sunday by his department via Facebook.
Firefighter Cole Wohle, 18, died unexpectedly over the weekend, wrote the Francestown Fire and Rescue on its Facebook page. The department and family of Whole received outpouring of support on social media following his death.
Wohle’s goal was to become a career firefighter.
The cause of his death has not yet been made available, although he was not on duty, reported NH1.
“It will be difficult for members of the department to communicate to others the respect and admiration we had for Cole. He cared for the department, his explorer post and the fine traditions of the service,” the department wrote.
Wohle had his FF1 certification and was working towards his EMT certification. His father, Rob, is a firefighter with the department, and his brother, Jarrett, joined as an explorer.
“It is not often that someone touches so many people, so deeply in such a short time,” the department wrote.
A tribute video was created for Wohle Sunday. Watch it below.
