ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. — The Two Rivers Volunteer Fire Department is considering closing its doors.
Fire chief Dan Schaeffer said the decision to close will be made by the board of directors at a special-called meeting on Monday, March 23. He said the decision to possibly dissolve the department comes down to the lack of volunteers — an issue facing many rural fire departments across the state.
“Department finances have no bearing on the department possibly closing,” Schaeffer said.
