HOUSTON — A grass-roots volunteer effort has started to provide meals to the Houston Fire Department after a Facebook post.
The Houston Chronicle reported that Joanne Stewart, wife of Houston Fire Department Capt. Dane Stewart, wrote a Facebook post Tuesday asking for help to feed a few fire stations.
Friends of the fire department and past employees began making calls and led to launch Operation “Feed Our Heroes,” according to the report.
The effort grew from attempting to feed 150 firefighters and blossomed into feeding all on-duty personnel.
