FLORENCE, S.C. — A firefighter has been shown at fault for contributing to an accident Tuesday night at Apple Valley Drive and Howe Springs Road in Florence, according to Corporal Sonny Collins with South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The firefighter was in his department’s quick response vehicle heading to a wreck when he collided with a log truck, ran off the road and crashed into a home.

The accident resulted in minor injuries. Howe Springs Fire Chief Billy Dillon said Wednesday that Highway Patrol told him his firefighter was going over the speed limit, but he pointed out the accident happened around a blind curve.
