TUKWILA, Wash. — A Tukwila firefighter, responding to a crash on I-5 Saturday night, was hit by a vehicle and taken to the hospital after another car spun out into the accident area.
“It was just a combination of bad luck tonight,” said Marty Grisham with the Tukwila Fire Department. Around 6 p.m., the firefighter was responding to the crash near Southcenter Mall along I-5 northbound when someone lost control of their vehicle and injured the firefighter.
The firefighter was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. “There was a loss of control of the vehicle, to the point that he hit the first vehicle, and that’s what struck our firefighter,” said Grisham.
