It’s the 2015 World Police & Fire Games and it’s drawing more than ten thousand competitors and their families to Northern Virginia from more than 60 different countries.

There are traditional sports like basketball, baseball, and hockey, as well as more unique competitions like the “toughest competitor alive” contest, which tests officers and firefighters with pull-ups and obstacle courses. In all, the athletes compete in more than 60 different types of sports.

Eric Shisslak, a firefighter from Arizona, finished strong in the obstacle course. “You just gotta tell yourself to keep going even though it starts burning,” he said. “Just gotta will yourself to go.”
