Firefighters push patient up hill when ambulance breaks down
They removed the patient from the ambulance and pushed the gurney two blocks up the steep hill to a hospital
SEATTLE — An ambulance transporting an injured passenger from Thursday's fatal "duck boat" crash broke down on First Hill, forcing firefighters to push the patient two blocks up the hill to Harborview Medical Center.
Sue Stangl with the Seattle Fire Department said two medics who weren't dispatched to the Thursday morning crash decided to grab a spare ambulance and drive to the Aurora Bridge to see if they could help out.
It turns out the medics were needed, and they soon loaded up an accident victim who was showing signs of a more serious injury, Stangl said.
