SEATTLE — Firefighters have rescued a man who was trapped for about 18 hours upside down in a parked rail car in Seattle.

The fire department says the man apparently crawled into a chute on the car, which is designed to carry dry bulk materials.

Dispatchers received 911 calls about 8 a.m. Wednesday from the nearby Burke-Gilman Trail, where people heard someone yelling for help.

Rescuers found the 25-year-old with his feet sticking up.

Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore tells KOMO that he was stuck overnight in a confined space.

Firefighters pulled him out by his feet. He was stiff and cold and got taken to a hospital to be checked out.
