NORTH CHARLEROI, Pa. — A junior firefighter was critically injured after he was hit by a car while trying to cross the road to help on an emergency call.
According to the Observer-Reporter, 14-year-old Brandon Schwalb was crossing the two-lane road near the Charleroi-Monessen Bridge just before 3 p.m. when he was hit.
He was flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he was listed in critical condition.
