ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The St. Louis Fire Department will be featured on cable television for the next eight Monday nights in a real-time documentary series premiering on A&E.
The show “Live Rescue,” from the producers of “Live PD,” follows firefighters, paramedics and EMTs from seven cities live as they respond to rescue calls.
Three film crews will be placed on two ambulances and one fire engine in St. Louis each Monday night as the crews respond to calls throughout the city.
The show’s cameras have been following the fire department crews for three weeks already, filming some pre-taped calls that will be included between live shots.
The live footage is aired with a delay for review and some editing.
The show will follow the department’s policies for patient privacy, according to St. Louis fire spokesman Garon Mosby.
The first two-hour episode will air on A&E at 8 p.m. Monday.
Monday marks the first of eight episodes planned for “Live Rescue” which will feature the St. Louis Fire Department along with six other departments in cities around the country including Sacramento , Calif., and Tulsa, Okla.
“Live Rescue” is hosted by news anchor Ashleigh Banfield and is styled after “Live PD,” a popular show also on A&E that switches between live footage of police departments.
Mosby said the department sees the show as an opportunity to showcase their work and help recruit for the department.
“Both EMS and fire do a phenomenal job of keeping the city safe every day,” Mosby said. “We think this is an opportunity to show the world how good they are.”
