LODD: Firefighter dies in ambulance vs semi crash

The firefighter/EMT was driving the ambulance at the time of the rear-end collision; he leaves behind a wife and four children

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — Texas firefighter and EMT Daniel Hampton died after his ambulance collided with a semi Friday.

The rear-end collision happened around 9:10 p.m. according to information from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Safety reported by KVUE.

Hampton was identified in a Saturday morning statement from the Burnet Fire Department. Hampton leaves behind a wife and four children.

The patient, being transported at the time of the collision, and Hampton’s paramedic partner were transported to another hospital. The paramedic is recovering from serious injuries in the intensive care unit. The patient was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

The collision is under investigation.
