AVOCA, Neb. — A firefighter was hospitalized after responding to a car accident scene.
According to the Cassgram, Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann advised that on Thursday at 7:59pm deputies along with Weeping Water Fire and Rescue and Manley and Avoca Fire responded to a one-vehicleaccident at Highway 34 just west of Highway 50 near Avoca.
A 2000 Dodge Durango driven by Benjamin T. Wilkinson, age 24, of Otoe was traveling east on Highway 34 by Highway 50 when the driver fell asleep, lost control of the vehicle and entered the south side ditch, going into an embankment approximately 70 feet off the roadway. The driver was transported by Weeping Water Rescue to Bryan West in Lincoln for his injuries.
