EL PASO, Texas — El Paso Firefighters rescued a man trapped in a drainage ditch in East El Paso early this morning.

At 12:30 a.m., today rescue crews responded to a call at the 1800 block of Lyman Duttan.

John Concha, a spokesman for the fire department, said the man was originally being helped by the police department.

“The the man entered the drainage ditch and got stuck in there,” Concha said. “At first police were handling the situation but they called us out to help.”

When fire crews first arrived they thought there was more than one individual stuck in there, but after sending rescue workers into the ditch, they determined that the man was the only person inside.

Fire crews extracted the man from the ditch.

He was transported to Del Sol Medical Center.
