WASHINGTON — Volunteer fire departments across the U.S. will soon have a limited opportunity to apply for critical safety funding through the 2025 Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program. The grant program, offered by State Farm in partnership with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), will accept applications from June 4 through June 6.

A total of 150 departments will each be awarded $10,000 to purchase equipment that improves firefighter safety and effectiveness. Eligible items include personal protective equipment (PPE), communication devices, rescue tools, and other essential gear.

The program targets smaller departments—those that are at least 50 percent volunteer, serve populations of 25,000 or fewer, have annual revenues under $250,000, and are legally organized under state law.

In addition to the grants, the first 2,000 applicants will receive a complimentary one-year NVFC membership, courtesy of State Farm. The membership includes access to training, resources, and support services designed to help responders perform at their best both on and off the job.

The application portal will open at midnight. ET on June 4 and close at 11:59 p.m. ET on June 6. Departments can apply and find detailed eligibility information at www.nvfc.org/statefarm.
