FireGrantsHelp.com Helps 2,500 Fire Departments with 2012 Assistance to Firefighter Grants Program

SAN FRANCISCO - FireGrantsHelp.com, the top online grant information and direct assistance resource for the fire service, announced that it provided critical assistance to more than 2,500 departments during the 2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) process.

The largest source of grant funding for fire and EMS equipment, training, and vehicles, AFG provides financial assistance directly to fire departments and nonaffiliated EMS organizations to enhance their capabilities with respect to fire and fire-related hazards. The grant opens for a narrow window of time each year.

Part of the FireRescue1.com Network, the leading online resource for the firefighting community, FireGrantsHelp and its team of grant specialists are focused on helping fire departments and nonaffiliated EMS organizations locate funding to meet their firefighting and emergency response needs. To prepare for the short application cycle of AFG 2012, the FireGrantsHelp team increased the size of its grant writing staff, comprised of writers with specific Fire and EMS service backgrounds. As a result, the team was able to accommodate more AFG requests from departments seeking help, increasing the number of applications assisted with by 30% in volume in 2012 over 2011.

“I am exceptionally proud of the hard work and effort put forth by our entire staff at FireGrantsHelp,” said Sarah Wilson, Director of the FireGrantsHelp Program. “Each member of our team has so much passion and dedication to help fire and EMS departments and the increase in support provided for the 2012 program is just another testament to the importance of our program.”

“In these tight budgetary times, the fire service needs all the help it can get,” said Alex Ford, CEO of FireRescue1. “This grant program is a great example of how FireRescue1 gives back to the fire community.”

In the past four years, FireGrantsHelp has helped EMS and Fire agencies receive a total of more than $13 million in grant awards.

“The support and encouragement that we have received from FireGrantsHelp was nothing short of amazing. The narratives we received and the way that everything was handled was the absolute best that I have seen,” said Jason Clatt, with the Longton, KS Fire Department. “This has been by far the most difficult thing I have done for our fire department but FireGrantsHelp made it very easy for me to get everything done.”
