USI Northwest, a Portland Company, and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company awarded a $20,000 grant to Portland Fire & Rescue to purchase two new utility all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). These vehicles will be used to perform firefighting and rescue duties in all seasons and climates. Portland Fire & Rescue protects 531,600 residents in its 149 square mile jurisdiction, and these ATVs will give firefighters and rescue personnel better access to wilderness areas where larger vehicles are not able to reach.

“This donation from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, in conjunction with USI Northwest, will have a direct impact on making the citizens of Portland safer,” said Portland Fire Chief Dave Sprando. “These rescue response vehicles will allow us greater access to areas away from paved roads and allow medics to quickly arrive at a patient’s side. We would like to specifically thank Jeff Gullickson of USI Northwest, who coordinated the donation effort. We appreciate the involvement of Fireman’s Fund and USI Northwest in the community, and are grateful for their continued support of Portland Fire & Rescue.”
“Our roots in the Portland area go back almost 100 years, and we’re always grateful for the chance to give back to our community,” said Jeff Gullickson, CEO of USI Northwest. “We appreciate the efforts of the men and women who protect us and our clients, and hope this donation helps them.”
