CAPE COD, Mass. — Police stopped a cargo van in Barnstable Friday night, carrying more than $7,000 in fireworks after New Hampshire authorities tipped off the Hyannis fire department about a large purchase being brought to Cape Cod, officials said.

The driver of the van, Kayla F. Majors, 24, of Marston Mills, was charged with illegal possession of fireworks and will receive a court summons to Barnstable District Court, authorities said. A passenger in the car was not charged.

The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office contacted the Hyannis Fire Department on Friday about the large purchase, saying two women were planning to bring the fireworks back to Hyannis in a rented cargo van, a Barnstable police statement said.
