Texas condos where firefighter died to be shut down

Dallas Fire-Rescue gave the complex 27 citations for code violations which are supposed to be corrected in two weeks

DALLAS, Texas — The condominiums where a Dallas firefighter lost his life in May may soon be shut down.

It’s going to cost more than a $1.5 million to fix all the code problems at the Hearthwood Condominiums in the 12300 block of Abrams Road.

The homeowners association is already in bankruptcy and doesn’t have the money to fix the problems, and that is going to leave some residents on the streets. Veronica Barajas and her four children will soon have to find another place to live because city inspectors said her condo is not safe.
