SEA BRIGHT, N.J. — A volunteer firefighter’s boots were mysteriously returned after they were stolen from a fire scene last week.

NJ.com reported that the boots disappeared from the Sea Bright Fire Rescue firefighter’s truck while he was battling a house fire.

“The boots that were stolen from our member have been anonymously returned a short time ago,” Sea Bright Fire and Rescue posted on its Facebook page. “We thank all of those that shared this post and helped spread the word.”

The post also thanked the organizations that offered donations for a new pair of boots.

“Your support and generosity was above and beyond and we can’t extend enough gratitude,” the post said.

The department’s original Facebook post had a photo of someone in a blue Volvo that pulled up to the firefighter’s pickup at the time of the fire.
