GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Five people were injured Saturday morning after their car crashed into a fire truck that was blocking another wreck.
WOODtv reported that the fire truck, with the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Fire Department, was on the scene of a different crash when a car lost control and crashed into the back of the ladder truck.
A father, mother and their three children, ages 5, 6 and 8, were inside the car when the crash happened. The mother was taken to a hospital for treatment. The three children were also taken to a hospital, but are expected to be OK. The father had to be extricated from the car and suffered a serious leg injury.
Fire officials said snowy and slippery conditions contributed to the crash.
Another car also hit the rear of the rig before the family’s car spun out of control. The rig suffered minor damage.
